To cut to the point no matter what period products are made of.... none of them belong in the toilet! Also NOT 100% plastic-free, organic Mondays products!
🚾 ONLY the 4 P's are to be flushed down the toilet ! 🚽
Pee 💧
Poo 💩
Period 🩸
Paper 🧻
Why?
The sewage systems cannot process or manage nor are made to process waste other than these 4 items.
When you flush other items down the loo we are creating huge problems for the health of our planet and the health of our sewage systems!
What like?
Fatbergs in our Sewers

This is a 100 tonne fatberg removed from the sewers of London in 2025 and took a month to remove.
"When these pipes get blocked, we can't simply switch off the sewage. It backs up and must come out somewhere, whether that's roads, rivers or even people's homes. The consequences can be devastating."
- Alexander Dudfield, Engagement lead for network protection at Thames Water
Plastics - micro and nano - in our water systems & on our beaches
We use about 11,000 - 13,000 period products (pads / tampons) in our lifetime. That is a huge amount of single-use products. Today most products you buy in the supermarket are not just wrapped in plastic, but contain plastic. A pad up to 90%, a tampon up to 6% is plastic.
These period products made with plastic are used for a matter of hours, but then take hundreds of years to break down... into micro and nano plastic that then leach out into our water system.
Or when flushed the sewage system gets blocked and overflows straight out into the water systems. One of the most commonly found single-use plastics on European Beaches are plastic tampon applicators and pads that are made with plastic.
